Who We Are

The Desyre Foundation was born into the searing heat of June 1996.

The Desyre Foundation came about as a result of a series of startling co-incidences that began with a conversation between two strangers, a leading people skills expert and a housewife Sunday school teacher, one Thursday afternoon in a café in Oxford.

The Desyre Foundation's early genesis involved substantial input from a famous science fiction novelist, a retired circus performer, an industrial dyestuffs chemist, a poet/actress and a respected freemason. It is currently massively supported on a day to day basis by, amongst others, an IT guru from The City, a film star, a retired engineer who was involved in the Apollo space programme, one of the nation's most respected experts on toxic waste and an internationally recognised campaigner for human rights. All sorts of people are BDSMers.

The Desyre Foundation has staged over 200 public and private BDSM events. It has published close on a million words on the subject. It boasts over 500 members and nearly 6000 friends in the UK alone, yet it employs no-one and is run on a voluntary basis by three polyamorous individuals from two small office rooms in the midlands of England.

The Desyre Foundation exists to promote and facilitate the general acceptance consensual BDSM in the United Kingdom. It also offers information help and support to those within our community and beyond who are in need of it, and to resource and organise events and publications to help enable our community to function and become strong.
